ISST FINANCIAL PROTOCOLS
Determination of Amount Owed:
Dues are set by the ISST Board each year. The amount for 2015 dues is CHF 240; beginning in 2016, dues are CHF 200. The amount owed by members in their respective countries is determined by the CHF (Swiss franc) exchange rate on October 1st of the preceding year. The ISST Treasurer will send out a notice to all Treasurers and IMs listing the exchange rates as of October 1st.
Notification of Payment Due:
To National Society Members:
The Treasurer (or other person performing that function) of each National Society will inform their members of the amount of dues owed and date by which they are to be received.
To Individual Members:
The ISST Treasurer will inform Individual Members (those in countries where there is no National Society) of the amount of dues owed and date by which they are to be received.
Collection and Payment Responsibilities:
For National Societies:
The Treasurer of each National Society is responsible for:
Collecting the total dues owed from members
Sending payment of the total dues owed to ISST by March 31st of a given year, along with an additional CHF 7 bank deposit fee.
National Societies will provide to the ISST Treasurer a written list of their members and status (i.e., regular, retired, honorary, temporary inactive and whether it is first year of temporary inactive) as of January 1st of the given year. This list must be submitted to the ISST Treasurer by January 31st of said year. After the ISST Treasurer receives a National Society’s member list, an invoice for the amount due will be sent to the National Society’s Treasurer. To avoid erroneous payments, National Society Treasurers should wait until they receive the invoice before paying dues.
National Societies will inform the ISST Secretary and Treasurer of deceased, withdrawn, and retired members as these changes occur.
For Individual Members:
For New Members accepted after March 31st of a given year:
New members accepted after March 31st of any given year will pay their first year’s dues directly to ISST and not through their National Society.
Payment is determined as 1/12 of the annual dues multiplied by the number of months remaining in the year.
An additional amount of CHF 7 bank deposit fee must be included.
ISST will inform the National Society of receipt of payment from a new member.
For Retired Members:
Members who have met the criteria for Retired status (Article 24 - Membership Dues, Rules of Procedure) will pay 25% of the regular dues. If they are Individual Members they must include a CHF 7 bank deposit fee.
(Retirement status is defined as an individual who reaches 70 years of age who does not earn full revenue through therapy, Sandplay teaching, or other forms of Sandplay service. Retired members may work up to 20 hours per week. They may volunteer to teach, as needed.)
For Temporary Inactive Members:
ISST has an active interest to maintain members whose practice is temporarily reduced.
A letter of request for Temporary Inactive Membership of ISST is submitted in writing with an explanation of the member’s circumstances to their National Society, or to the ISST Treasurer for Individual Members (IM).
Approved Temporary Inactive Members pay 25% of the regular dues and a one-time nominal fee of CHF 25 to be charged for the administrative expenses at the time of application. If they are Individual Members, a CHF 7 bank deposit fee must be included.
For a member to retain Temporary Inactive status, it must be reviewed and approved annually by the National Society.
The duration of this category cannot exceed three years. After this time the member in this membership category has to rejoin ISST as a full-member without having to pay back full dues. Alternatively, ISST will terminate the membership.
It is the responsibility of the Teaching Members in this category to inform their students that their supervision, teaching and personal process hours will not count for certification.
Temporary Inactive Members cannot present at ISST Congresses unless they pay full dues and return to full membership of ISST.
Please note that members in this category can offer sandplay therapy to the general public, but personal sandplay process to candidates, supervision or teaching (if TM) will not be accredited. It is expected that professional sandplay practice be significantly reduced.
The ISST Administrative Assistant will list this Member on the Inactive list on the website and will reinstate the individual on the regular members list at the time when regular dues payment resumes.
Payment may be made in one of three ways:
1. By bank transfer to: Credit Suisse, CH-8702 Zollikon; Account holder: ISST; BIC: CRESCHZZ87B; IBAN: CH 27 0483 5003 1997 8055 5; Clearing # 4835; Account # 31997-80-555
2. By emailing credit card information (name, credit card number, expiration date, and 3 digit security code) to firstname.lastname@example.org
3. By faxing credit card information (name, credit card number, expiration date, and 3 digit security code) to 813-920-3623 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST (Eastern Standard Time for Florida, USA)

Consequences for failure to pay dues in a timely manner:
After the March 31st deadline for dues payments each year, the ISST Treasurer will review all dues payments from Individual Members and National Societies in order to identify any who have not paid. The consequences for failure to pay dues on time are as follows:
For Individual Members:
Individual members who fail to pay their dues on time will receive a reminder notice from the ISST Treasurer and will be fined an additional 10% of the total dues owed. Failure to pay dues within six weeks of reminder notification will result in removal from the membership list and suspension of membership privileges. (Art.8, ISST Statutes)
Individual Members whose membership has been suspended for failure to pay dues may have their membership reinstated upon payment of dues owed for the previous year/s, fines for late payment, and dues owed for the current year.
For National Societies:
The ISST Treasurer will work with respective National Society Treasurers to ensure yearly dues payments on time. National Societies that fail to pay their dues on time will be fined an additional 5% of the total dues owed.
If a National Society fails to pay dues owed within six weeks of reminder notification, the President of that National Society will receive written notification of the ISST Board’s intention to suspend their membership.
